By The Rivers were formed by Nile Barrow and Jordan Birtles in May 2010. Writing instantly catchy and mature reggae tunes that belies their young age, It was soon obvious that these two had something special. They quickly formed a 6 piece band and within a few months were the hit of Leicesters finest music festival, Summer Sundae Weekender. Shows by the Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Toploader, the Buzzcocks, Maxi Priest, John Holt, Neville Staples and the Beat have all featured By The Rivers on the bill.

This summer the band played UK festivals T In The Park, Summer Sundae Weekender, Y Not Festival, Noz Stock, Riverside Festival and have gone from strength to strength building fans and a great reputation with their a fresh, new sound.

In October, they support 2 Tone Records ska/reggae legends, The Specials on their 15 date UK Arena tour!

Specials singer Neville Staple and rhythm guitarist and vocalist Lynval Golding were adamant that By The Rivers would support them on their UK dates, which begin in Wolverhampton on October 11.

...Nile said: “The support from Neville (Staple) and Lynval (Golding) has been amazing. I gave Neville a copy of our EP and a business card after playing with him at a gig in Derby.

“Within days he rang saying he loved it. A few weeks later Lynval called saying he loved it and that the band would like us to support them for the whole of their UK tour!”

By The Rivers have released two five-track EPs, which are available to download from HYPERLINK "http://bytherivers.bandcamp.com/"http://bytherivers.bandcamp.com or on iTunes. A new single, One Word, is due to be released on October 8th on Kompila Records ahead of the Specials tour.

As well as performing as a full blown six piece band, Jordan and Nile go out as a duo stripping the songs back to one acoustic guitar, two harmonious vocals and a melodica. The results are just as appealing as the full band.
